Khadka, Bhattarai guide Nepal into Plate semifinal
Nepal thrashed Zimbabwe by 99 runs on Sunday to sail into the semi final of the ICC Plate Championship under ICC U-19 world Cup after the opener bowler duo captain Parash Khadkha and Amrit Bhattarai claimed three wickets each to restrict them to 59 runs.
In the match held at Johar Cricket Stadium, Malaysia, Nepal repeated its weak batting scoring 158 losing all its wickets in 45.1 overs. But the batting of Zimbabwe was weaker than Nepal's.
Following the easy victory chase, Zimbabwe lost six wickets only for 24 runs. Only Chimbampo (20) and Mair(16) contributed two digit runs for Zimbabwe. Spinner Raj Shrestha dismissed last three players.
Earlier, opening batsman Anil Mandal returned pavilion with only one run and soon after that Gyanendra Malla was bold for duck in the bowl of Jarvis.
The man of the match all-rounder Parash Khadka struck 20 runs with one six and one boundary. Nepal lost seven wickets in 79 runs after it lost Sagar Khadka (2), Aakash Gupta (9) Rahul BK (0). The 8th rank batsman Krishna Thapa top scored with 40 off 49 balls to manage modest score with three boundaries and one six.
