Malaysia U-19 v New Zealand U-19

New Zealand cruises into world under-19 cricket playoffs

Bowlers Trent Boult and Tim Southee have performed a two-man demolition job on Malaysia to steer New Zealand into the quarterfinals of the world under-19 cricket championship being held in Malaysia.
The eight-wicket romp saw New Zealand complete their group A matches with two wins and a loss, a record which is likely to see them finish second in the group to defending champions Pakistan.
The win over the tournament hosts in the southern state of Johore was a stroll for the New Zealanders at the Johore Cricket Academy Oval as they routed the Malaysians who had upset Zimbabwe by 70 runs on Wednesday. Between them, Boult and Southee needed just 17.1 overs to knock over the hapless Malaysians for just 47 runs. Boult took seven wickets for 20 runs in 8.1 overs while Southee, a Twenty20 international, was left with the scraps, capturing 3-19 off nine overs.
There were five ducks in the Malaysian innings and a highest score of just nine, to Muhammad Faizal. New Zealand, who won the toss and opted to bowl first, needed just 11.1 overs to acquire the 48 runs needed to win, although at the cost of two wickets. Skipper Kane Williamson guided his side to victory with a 27 not out while Malaysia's Sarvana Raj took both his side's wickets.
